According to foreign media reports, as part of the energy-saving and technology upgrade program, the city facilities in Huntington, the United States, are undergoing several improvements.

 

It is reported that the city has entered the third phase of the plan with Honeywell, installing new LED lighting and HVAC systems in 14 buildings.

 

In addition, the city has signed a non-exclusive franchise agreement with Comcast to improve the city's video broadcasting system.

 

Honeywell announced earlier this month that it is preparing to begin the third phase of its 15-year energy-saving contract with the city, which will save about $4.8 million (about $33.1 million) in total operating costs. Currently, the company is installing LED lighting technology and inductive sensors at various locations in the city to automatically control lighting. HVAC system improvements and control system upgrades will also be carried out in the City Hall.

 

It is estimated that the upgrade will save energy and operating costs by approximately $112,000 (approximately $772,500) per year.

 

Huntington City Mayor Steve Williams said at a press conference, "The upgrades and improvements we've worked with Honeywell will improve the lighting of most of our buildings and help reduce the city's operating costs and energy consumption," We are encouraged by the fact that the third phase of the project will again save the expected energy and operating costs."

 

Previously, Phases I and II involved facility upgrades, including lighting retrofits, mechanical and control improvements, water-saving systems, traffic signal retrofits, and other building repairs.
